- Academic journal (also called Scholarly journal): Periodicals where scholarly studies are published after peer review in an academic discipline,
- includes: research articles and review articles
- ISSN (International Standard Serial Number): 8 digit serial number for the unique identification of the publication,
- Conflict of Interest: situation where personal motives or interests knowingly alters the judgment; the person is involved in different roles which impacts his or her decisions,
- DOI (Digital Object Identifier): unique identification for the online contents (documents, files, web pages, objects)
- Volume: identifies single periodicals as the larger part of the publications,
- Citation Index: An index of citations to help list which documents have been cited by the provided document,
- Impact Factor (also called Impact Journal Factor): average number of citations received to the journal articles in the last two year,
- Open access: a practice where research outputs or articles are free to access to the public,
- Preprint: an early version of the research article yet to be reviewed, which can go multiple edits or revisions
